What is Platrium?

Platrium is a casual game Web site that provides free access to every one of its online games.

Platrium Games delivers that much-needed break from your busy day. So, sit back, relax, choose from hundreds of fun and entertaining games…and enjoy a few minutes of play time.

Unlike many Web sites offering online games, Platrium Games is free of charge. No subscription fee needed here. In return for all these free games, our users agree to view a limited amount of targeted advertising. In a lot of ways, Platrium is like an online version of traditional TV. The big difference is that our model is not based on interrupting users while they are being entertained or in our case, playing games.

The Platrium toolbar (we’re actually calling ours a Playbar) lets you play games, add emoticons to your emails, create your own avatar figure and add it to your messenger, check the weather anywhere in the world and use the search option to look for anything on the Web – all directly from the Playbar itself, no matter what Web site you're on.

How can I install Platrium?

To install Platrium Games, simply go to: http://www.platrium.com, click on one of the games available and follow the on-screen instructions.

Upon downloading Platrium Games, you will have free access to every game in the Platrium library.

Please note, some of the individual games require a download. This means that even if you have Platrium Games installed, you may be prompted to download the specific game you have chosen. This procedure will only download the selected game at this time, not all of the other downloadable games.

If you are experiencing problems during the installation, please do the following to make sure that your Internet Explorer settings allow the Platrium Games installation:

1. Open a new session of Internet Explorer
2. Click the Tools tab and then Internet Options
3. Click on the Security tab and then Custom Level
4. Please lower the bar to Medium-High or Medium by dragging it downwards.

Platrium is compatible with the following operating systems:

• Windows Vista

How can I remove Platrium?

The Platrium application can be easily removed from your computer following the steps below:

1. Go to Start menu
2. Select Settings
3. Select Control Panel
4. Select Add or Remove Programs
5. Select the Platrium application
6. Click Change/Remove
7. Follow on-screen prompts to remove the application

Alternatively, you can use our uninstaller:

1. Click on the following link - http://installs.platrium.com/Downloads/Platrium/Software/Uninstaller/uninstaller.exe
2. Click Run and follow on-screen instructions
3. Restart your computer

I can’t play a game on Platrium, what can I do?

Platrium Games can only be played on a computer that is compatible with the Platrium requirements.

Platrium is compatible with the following operating systems:

Platrium is compatible with the following Internet browsers:

• Internet Explorer versions 6.0 and 7.0
• Mozilla Firefox version 1.0 and 2.0

While you may download Platrium using Firefox, you cannot use the Platrium Playbar (our toolbar) on your Firefox, only on your Internet Explorer.

Most Platrium downloaded games will be found in the Platrium folder. You may find the game by following the steps below:

1. Go to Start menu
2. Select All Programs
3. Select Platrium Programs

If your computer is compatible with Platrium, and you are still unable to play one of the games, it might indicate that your browser security settings need to be adjusted:

1. Open a new session of Internet Explorer
2. Click the Tools tab and then Internet Options
3. Click on the Security tab and then Custom Level
4. Please lower the bar to Medium-High or Medium by dragging it downwards

If a game will not play and gives a message similar to "Please update the player to version 7," you might need to update the Adobe Flash Player.

1. Open a new session of Internet Explorer

4. Follow the directions to install the updated Flash Player

My Platrium toolbar disappeared, what can I do?

First, please note that while you may download Platrium using Firefox, you cannot use the Platrium toolbar (we’re actually calling ours a Playbar) on your Firefox, only on your Internet Explorer.

If you are using Internet Explorer browser, please check if the Platrium Playbar is hidden:

1. Open a new session of Internet Explorer
2. Click the Tools tab and then Toolbars
3. Make sure ‘Platrium’ is checked

If you still can’t see your Platrium Playbar, please do the following:

1. Open a new session of Internet Explorer
2. Click the Tools tab and then Manage Add-ons
3. Under the Disabled list, you may find Platrium related items.
4. Click each of the items and choose Enable in the Settings section below, then click OK
5. Close and reopen your browser and the Playbar should be enabled.

How can I hide the toolbar? How can I make it reappear?

You can toggle the Platrium toolbar (we’re actually calling ours a Playbar) on and off by following the steps below:

1. Open a new session of Internet Explorer
2. Click the View tab and then Toolbars
3. Uncheck ‘Platrium’ if you wish to hide it and check if you wish for the Platrium Playbar to reappear.

Do I have the ability to restrict certain content?

You may be able to restrict certain types of sites and advertisements from opening in your browser.

In IE 6 and IE 7, select Tools/Internet Options and follow the directions. For more detailed instructions, click here to view Microsoft’s Internet Explorer and Content Advisor for specific instructions. This will allow you to set various parental controls such as content filtering for language and violence, along with Web site blocking features.

What is the Platrium Playbar?

The Platrium Playbar is our fun and innovative toolbar. The Playbar lets you play games, add emoticons to your emails, create your own avatar figure and add it to your messenger, check the weather anywhere in the world and use the search option to look for anything on the Web – all directly from the Playbar itself, no matter what Web site you’re on.

What are the games that are showing on my Playbar?

Once Platrium is installed, your Playbar will show you several games you can play directly from the Playbar, no matter what Web site you’re on. You can add, edit or remove games from your Playbar anytime.

To add a game to your Playbar, simply enter http://www.platrium.com and click the game you wish to add. Once the game opens, click on the “Add to my Playbar” link below the game. This will automatically add the game to your Playbar.

To edit or remove games, just enter http://www.platrium.com and click the “My Platrium” link at the top. This will direct you to the “My Platrium” page where you can see the full list of your games. Drag and drop to change the order of the games or click the Remove button next to the game you wish to remove.

How can I add games to my Playbar?

When playing one of Platrium games, you may save it on your Playbar by clicking the “Add to my Playbar” link below the game. This will automatically add the game to your Playbar. You may view all your favorite games by expanding the bottom bar when you’re on www.platrium.com.

How can I edit or remove games from my Playbar?

To edit or remove games, simply enter www.platrium.com and click the “My Platrium” link at the top. This will direct you to the “My Platrium” page where you can see the full list of your games. Drag and drop to change the order of the games or click the Remove button next to the game you wish to remove.

I lost my Playbar games, what can I do?

If you have lost your favorite Platrium games it may indicate one of the following:

1. Did you delete your cache and cookies lately?
   Many online companies use cookies to save user preferences and profiles. Platrium saves your Playbar games using cookies as well. So, if you ever clean out your computer’s cookies, your Playbar games will be lost.
2. Did you change your browser?
   If you added games to your Playbar using Internet Explorer, your Playbar games will not appear when using the Firefox browser. Try opening your Internet Explorer and check if you can see your favorite games again.

What are Personal Best games?

Personal Best games allow you to track your scores each time you play the game and see your previous high scores.

How do I know a game is a Personal Best game?

Personal Best games have an extra wide border around their thumbnail images to call them out. When you play a Personal Best game you will see your previous high score when the game opens. In addition, a special category called "High Score Games" will contain all the games that let you work toward your Personal Best.

I got the highest score of the community. Why isn't my score listed as the best?

Only registered and signed in Platrium members can be listed as part of the community best. If you want your scores to show up, become a member of Platrium.

Where can I find my Personal Best scores?

Your Personal Best scores can be found by clicking on "My Platrium." You will see a list of the Personal Best games and your current high scores. If you play all the Personal Best games you will receive extra bonus Jacks in your Platrium Rewards account.

How do I earn Jacks with Personal Best games?

Playing Personal Best games will earn you Jacks for Platrium Rewards, just like with all games on Platrium. In addition, if you play all the Personal Best games at least once you will receive extra bonus Jacks.

How can I add emoticons to my email?

Choose your favorite emoticons out of our huge collection and add it to your emails.

Platrium emoticons are compatible with Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and Comcast Web based mail services.

To insert emoticons to your email, simply login to your email account and compose a new message. Your email should be in Rich Text format. Make sure you can see the "Show Plain Text" message right below the Subject line (in Hotmail or Gmail) or the "Plain Text" message on the right hand side of the Subject line (in Yahoo).

Click the smiley icon from your Playbar (our toolbar) and then click the emoticon you would like to use. This will automatically download it to your email. In order to place an image on a specific location in the email body, place the blinking cursor on the desired location, then insert the image you want to use.

I keep getting an "Ooops..." message when trying to add emoticons to my email, what can I do?

If you receive the "Ooops…" message when trying to insert emoticons to your email, it may indicate one of the following

1. You are composing an email in plain text format.
   In order to insert emoticons to your email, you must make sure that your email is in Rich Text format. Compose a new message and make sure you can see the "Show Plain Text" message right below the Subject line (in Hotmail or Gmail) or the "Plain Text" message on the right hand side of the Subject line (in Yahoo).
2. Your cursor (the blinking mark) is not placed in the email message body and is located on the "To" or "Subject" field.
   In order to insert emoticons into your email, you must first place your cursor in the email body, where you want the emoticons to appear. Click the smiley icon from the Playbar (our toolbar) and choose your favorite image. This will automatically download it to your email.
3. The social networking site you are using is not yet supported by Platrium.
   Platrium generally works with social networking sites however this service is not yet supported by Platrium.

Where can I find my favorite emoticons?

You can view and use the emoticons you recently used by clicking the ‘Recently Used’ category on the top of the emoticons menu.

What is an avatar?

An avatar is a character that you can personalize and use when interacting with friends on any IM application. You can change hairstyles, clothing, accessories and backgrounds to make your own unique avatar.

When I close the browser are my latest avatar changes saved?

Yes, every action is automatically saved. You should not worry if you close your browser or if your browser closes unintentionally.

Where can I use my avatar?

Avatars can be used as your display image for AIM®, Windows Live® Messenger and Yahoo!® instant messenger programs.

Avatars can also be added to your email. Simply click the Email button below the avatar figure and your avatar will be automatically added to your outgoing email.

Platrium avatars are compatible with Windows Live Hotmail, Yahoo, Gmail and Comcast.

Can I save more than one avatar?

Yes. You can save as many avatars as you wish on your computer.

When using your avatar on your messenger program, you can pick the avatar you want and add it as your display image. Just follow the saving instructions suitable for your messenger program by clicking the IM button below your avatar figure.

You may also add the avatars you have saved on your computer to your emails or to your blog. Only the avatar figure that is showing under the avatar feature on your Playbar will be added automatically to your emails and blog. Other avatars you have saved on your computers must be added as an image.

Where can I find my favorite avatar items?

You can see the items you have used under the “My Items” category on the left side of the screen.

What is the Platrium Rewards program?

The Platrium Rewards program is a fun way to get rewarded for doing what you already do. Play games on the Platrium.com Web site and you will automatically earn “Jacks” for every game you play. Jacks are like points that you can use on Platrium to bid on an auction or contribute to a worthy cause. Sign-up for a free Platrium Rewards account and save all the Jacks you earn.

How can I create a Platrium Rewards account?

Creating a Platrium Rewards account is easy and free. First, install the Platrium Playbar. Next, fill out the short Platrium Rewards sign up form.

If you already have the Playbar installed on your computer, enter: http://rewards.platrium.com/ and click on the “Sign Up” button (under the “Get Started” section), enter your details and click on the “Create My Account” button. You will then see your current Jack balance and your current avatar picture. *To change your avatar, click the “Change Picture” link under your current avatar.

If the Playbar is not installed on your computer, please enter: http://rewards.platrium.com/ and click on the “Download Now” button (under the “Get Started” section) and follow the on-screen instructions. Once you’ve installed the Playbar, you’ll see it appear at the top of your browser like other toolbars. *If you can't see the Playbar, please check if the toolbar is enabled: Open your Internet Explorer browser and go to View > Toolbars > Make sure 'Platrium' is checked. Please note: While you may download the Playbar using FireFox or Chrome, the Playbar is currently only compatible with Internet Explorer.

After the Playbar is installed, follow the instructions to sign up for a new Platrium Rewards account.

After the account is created, you will then see your current Jack balance and your current avatar. *To change your avatar click the “Change Picture” link under your current avatar.

Can I play games without a Rewards account?

Yes. You don’t have to be signed in to play a game, but you must have a Rewards account to claim your Jacks and participate in Rewards Charities and Auctions.

What are Jacks?

Jacks are like points that are earned, accumulated, and used to bid on auctions or donate to charity. Jacks can be earned simply by playing games. If you are signed in, Jacks will be deposited in your account after you have played a game. If you are not signed in, Jacks will accumulate on the Web site during your browser session. Then you have the option of signing in to receive your Jacks. If you do not have the Playbar and you earn Jacks playing a game, you must download the toolbar before leaving the browser session to claim your Jacks. Failure to do so will result in lost Jacks earned during a session. You can accumulate up to 100 Jacks per day.

What can I do with my Jacks?

Once you have a Platrium Rewards account, use your Jacks to participate in Auctions, or donate your Jacks to support a worthy Charity.

Auctions:

• Use your Jacks to bid on our fun and unique auction items. You can use our Regular Bid to simply place the exact amount you want to bid or try your skill with our PowerBid. PowerBid is a quick and entertaining game that can boost your final bid by providing bonus Jacks to those who skillfully play the game.

Charities:

• Donate your Jacks to to fight hunger, cancer or other worthy causes. Your Jacks are dropped in a pachinko-style game that may add free bonus Jacks to the total amount of Jacks you donated.

Where can I see my Rewards account history?

When you are signed in, your user name and avatar will appear on the top right side of the screen. Click on “Edit Profile” link and then on “My Profile” from the menu on the left side of the screen.

Your Rewards account history will appear and you will be able to see your current Jack balance as well as how many Jacks were earned, spent and currently being bid on an auction.

Please note: Once you bid your Jacks in an auction, those Jacks will be on hold until the auction takes place.

If you did not win the auction, your Jacks will be deposited back into your Rewards account.

How do I participate in a Rewards Auction?

If you have a Platrium Rewards account and you have some Jacks in your account, then you can bid on any active auction. Visit our Auctions page to see the latest items up for bid and join in the bidding action.

Platrium Weather Utility:

What is the Platrium weather utility?

The Platrium weather utility enables you to check the current weather and the weather forecast around the world, right from your Platrium Playbar (our toolbar). You can also set your default location and get the most updated weather presented on your taskbar at all times.

To set the weather, simply click the weather icon from the Playbar or from the task bar. Enter the name of the desired city or location and choose your location from the list. Once closing the weather utility window, the temperature will automatically appear on your task bar.

How do I change the weather degrees from Fahrenheit to Celsius?

By default, the Platrium weather utility shows the temperature degrees in Fahrenheit. To change the degrees to Celsius, simply click the weather icon on the Playbar to open and check the Celsius option in the lower right-side of the weather screen.

Can I turn off the weather utility? Can I turn it back on?

You can toggle the weather utility on or off as you choose.

To turn off the weather utility, right click the weather icon on the task bar and choose Exit.

To turn the weather utility on, please follow the steps below:

1. Click Start then Programs
2. Find Platrium and click on weather

What is the Platrium comparison shopping tool?

Platrium’s comparison shopping tool brings the excitement back into the Web shopping experience. Our price comparison tool makes online shopping fast and easy by delivering the best offers on the Web directly to you, without having to leave the site you're on. We help you save both time and money.

How can I search for products or flights using the Platrium comparison shopping tool?

Platrium’s comparison shopping tool recognizes what you are looking for on the Web and opens the left browser pane of Internet Explorer automatically. A list of offers from other sites, for the same product, appears in this pane.

To initiate a search for products or flights using the Platrium comparison shopping tool, click the shopping cart icon from your Platrium Playbar (our toolbar), enter the desired product name and hit the search button. For flights simply click the “Flights” tab in the left pane, and enter the dates and destination for flights. Platrium’s comparison shopping tool will then deliver you the best offers on the Web for the data you have entered.

How can I remove the Platrium Comparison Shopping Tool?

Please note that removing Platrium’s comparison shopping tool will remove your entire Platrium application.

Please follow the steps below:

1. Go to Start menu
2. Select Settings
3. Select Control Panel
4. Select Add or Remove Programs
5. Select the Platrium application
6. Click Change/Remove
7. Follow on-screen prompts to completely remove the application.

I clicked the “Snooze” option but the comparison shopping tool is still active, what can I do?

Since this is a Beta version of Platrium, some of the features are still in development. Therefore, the Snooze option may not work in some instances. Please know that our development team is constantly working to have all our features active and to bring you a complete and entertaining experience with Platrium.

What content do I get access to after install?

Once installed, Platrium gives users free access to games, avatars, emoticons and other valuable programs and content. The cost of providing consumers free access to the Platrium content library is subsidized by various advertising and marketing offers.

How does Platrium deliver ads and marketing offers?

Advertising

Slider Ads
For this ad format, we deliver relevant ads to consumers based on their online browsing. Here’s how it works. An advertiser purchases keyword search terms. Then, when a keyword comes up while a user is browsing online, a related Slider ad is sent to the user’s desktop.

Similar to email alerts, this ad unit temporarily slides up from the lower right-hand corner of the desktop. Then, if the user clicks on the Slider, a separate browser window opens that delivers the advertiser’s Web site or landing page.

Marketing Offers

Comparison Shopping
Our comparison shopping feature provides consumers with a free comparison shopping service. It appears as a sidebar list of relevant links based on the user’s most current online browsing activities. This shopping tool provides consumers with advice on where and what to buy, opinions from other users and experts, and alternative suggestions when appropriate.

Related Search
Found on the Platrium Playbar, this button contains a drop-down menu containing a set of relevant search terms. This list of search terms is activated and constantly updated by the user’s most recent online browsing activities.

How often will I be receiving ads?

Platrium does not interrupt a user’s entertainment experience with ads, but depending on your Internet activity, including how often you use your browser and what you search for, it may show you about five (5) ads per day. Some users may see more, some may see less.
